A good perspective of someone who found the support and courage to go outside his box and to revisit it with respect, melancholy and a reflection of life lessons learned.

Gives an in depth look at the struggles of an Appalachian family and the opportunities a brave young man took to better himself without forgetting his roots.

Hard to follow!

60 something leaves her cheating hubby for a job in a shutdown town only because she's afraid if she dies no one will find her and the stench will have the neighbors gossiping. She's quirky and full of spirit she never knew because hubby always calling her "socially incompetent". Very much like Backman's OVE but feminine of course. I love the way he creates these cranks and their quirks.
