I’m weirdly anticipating something bad happening. But other than that I’m having a good time.

The excruciating detail is necessary I think, truly contextualises the brutality of war. I’m on the edge of my seat.

the main thing i struggle with is the pacing in this book, like it’s good do not get me wrong (and maybe it’s me and my attention span) but sometimes i find it drags a little.

OH THIS IS GETTING SERIOUS NOW HUH. I just keep thinking to myself “Rin, bestie, please be CAREFUL.” but I have a horrible feeling she won’t be…

I have a very full brain and very short memory so trying to arrange character names in my head is a little difficult. However, the narrative draws you in so easily and doesn’t make it difficult to follow.

Sometimes reading different perspectives of the same memory comes across as hilarious, whether intentional or not.

…. I was heavily influenced by the clock app to start this book.

The structure of the interviews threw me off a little bit at first but once you get a bit further into the book, it starts to flow a bit better.

OKAY THINGS JUST GOT REAL INTERESTING.

I like the pacing and world building in this book, even if the military parts go straight over my head (clearly I wouldn’t do very well in Sinegard😅). I really feel for Rin.

The only thing I’m finding a bit off with this so far is the pacing of the story. I’m a sucker for world building and a slow build up but it feels as though so much has already happened with the few chapters I’ve read. Maybe more will be built on later but it’s just an observation.

Snow’s inner monologue is both questionable but occasionally kind of funny and I hate myself for finding it amusing.

What the fuck. Within 2 chapters as well? I’m reading with my jaw hanging open.

I’m astounded by the statements made in this book but my god does it seem more relevant now than ever.

THE INTENSITY OF THE QUARTER QUELL.

Nothing will hit harder than the baby bombshell Peeta drops in this interview. An actual genius.

I am RACING through this. The politics is what has me on the edge of my seat. Every time something goes wrong for Katniss, my heart sinks for her. The uprising is something quite striking given current circumstances.

I genuinely forgot how engrossing this book was. From the descriptions to the actual narrative, it really draws you in. You find yourself rooting for Katniss in such a genuine way. Peeta as a character is also so interesting, the pair of them match perfectly.

Re-reading this for TBOSAS.

I low key forgot how distrusting Katniss was towards Peeta. Poor girl is going THROUGH it already. In hindsight you can tell what the strategy was for Peeta but as we are in Katniss’ point of view, she genuinely thinks he’s out to get her.

I like that Katniss is openly straight up and harsh with people and her view on the games themselves. She’s so interesting as a character.

I’m genuinely excited to be reading this book, four chapters in and the storyline is already very immersive.

The structuring so far is a tad scattered in my opinion, 3 chapters in and there’s no real flow. It just feels as though we jump from “here’s what happened to me” to a present moment and back again.

MIKEY’S BROTHER DID NOT DESERVE THAT.

Re-reading this cause I have the memory of a goldfish.

Takemichi punching a child and shouting “shut the f**k up!!” is my favourite panel. I like the pacing of this cause it just launches straight into it and it works well, we’re just as disoriented as Takemichi and it immediately places us in his shoes.

The “Please don’t punch me.” followed by a kiss was absolutely beautiful. Honestly I like Nikolai, he’s a very intriguing guy in my opinion.
