genuinely horrific

reading this feels like an act of self harm. these lives are realistic enough to feel like they have been lived but so horrific they make me nauseous. like a fate worse than death

I underestimated how much Dante would skip over the details of each circle. I was sat for meditative haiku style poetry on the scenery of hell, but I was wrong. This is still great though.

I am loving this so far. Dante's prose is certainly deserving of all the praise it gets. Though, the bleakness of hell gets me down so this might take a while to finish.

I took a long break from this one for no reason at all. So far, one of the best books I've ever read. It's mildly intimidating going back into this when I've forgotten a large chunk of the minor characters and plot points, but I have a feeling I can manage.

Feeling rather exhausted of this text. There have been some parts where I thought I understood the intention of this book which have been washed away by new plot points and characters I have to admit that I'm uninterested in. Slogging through. Not sure if I'll ever finish this.
