I am very, very confused.

Margaret got married to avoid looking after her siblings, but now she makes her daughter take care of her with no life of her own, and justifies it because she was a naughty kid until she was nine??

I'm about halfway through, but I'm still struggling to connect with the story. None of the characters feel particularly relatable to me...

MC, why are you blaming the dogs for what people trained them to do? It's the people who are evil, not the dogs. I had no particular feelings for her before, but now I'm leaning toward disliking her.

Mr. Pavlik, I think you've watched too many hardboiled B-movies. 🙄

I didn't have any expectations before going in, but I'm loving it so far. The eminent sense of urgency is palpable, despite not knowing what's going on.

I detest Mr. Kendrick, the jerk. I expect this mystery to have at least one murder happening, and I hope his one of the characters who met a very unfortunate and painful death.

Plus, I already dislike for Lyndy, the arrogant idiot as well. If this story has to have a romance, let it be with Ms. Kendrick and Mr. Gate, the only two I liked so far.

I mean,,, wasn't it,, like really obvious? I thought you knew...?

Finished Chapter Sixteen

We've been taking some heavy punches, non-stop. I’m hoping they can make a comeback from here on.

Oh, come on. That was the dumbest question so far.

I'm doing my best to chalk the MC's childish behavior up to the influence of magic and not judge her, but it's getting harder, tbh.

It's Chapter 16, but still, I'm not into the story.

It's not because the MC is a criminal. Many of my favorite MCs are, but I don't know. I'm starting to dislike the MC more and more, which is making the story less enjoyable for me.

Here's hope that the asshole police chief gets fired by the end of the book 🤮

"Simon sat on the floor of the lock-up in a cloud of self-pity. No one wanted him. Nothing ever went right for him. Life stinks, and it just wasn't fair." - son

I really enjoy Gord and Ethel's conversations.

When I picked up a crime mystery fiction for a quick read, I didn't expect to highlight this many quotes, but I'm loving it so far.
