I was 120 pages shy of finishing this before the movie but, tbh, I think that worked out well. Reading most of it helped me understand the world and also left some questions as to how it all would end. Ace.

Started listening to the audiobook because I’m watching the movie in two hours. But it’s translated by Butler instead of Rieu. And Rieu’s translation is so much better. Anyway, we’ll see if j can finish it before the movie…

What an epic tale. It’s playing like a movie in my head. I hope the movie lives up to my imagination…

Oh I just love when everything starts working out. Happy endings really are so happy. I don’t know if I understand fully why Georgiana cares for Frances so much. She’s literally the woooooorst.

This book is really pissing me off and I can’t decide if that means I hate the book or I love it because it’s doing such a good job of making me hate these characters. Everything is too extreme! And Georgiana’s parents were worst of all.

This is so much easier to read than the Iliad. Just as good, too.

These descriptions of the partying scene are really not my cup of tea. And they don’t really endear me to the characters. Also, I can clearly see the Mean Girls inspiration now. Not only because she says, at one point, “the limit did not exist”.

“I just cremated my best friend and am utterly and irrevocably distraught - perfect time for the Olympic Games!” Achilles…please. I liked Odysseus and the other guy boring the spectators though.

That book 22 was intensely sad and gruesome, my goodness - but the image of them running around Troy three times is kind of funny.

The themes here seem a little muddled - like the author doesn’t know what to focus on. I do like Hauxley’s dad. He was sweet. Hauxley too.

I don’t know if it’s the bronchitis that’s currently exhausting me, or the fact that I’m old and perhaps resent them their youth, but these characters are annoying me and their actions are increasingly stupid.

Betty is so sweet though. I am impatiently waiting for Georgiana’s character development. She is too easily pressured currently.

These gods are so annoying. Also omg Achilles is brutal.

Oh Frances is a bad apple ☹️

I really love being in this world, no matter the book or the characters or the plot. It’s just fun.

Georgiana is kind of mean. Why can’t she indulge this girl’s interest in gravel? ☹️

Reading via audiobook. Very fun so far.

No really. Are all the names necessary? Though I do like the quick biographies before someone gets killed. Makes an impact. Also who am I meant to be supporting??

Bit hard to say how far into this I am as it keeps moving me around. But I’ve gotten to ‘the end’ once. Let’s see how many other ends I can get to.

“I turned and gently twerked.” I’m sorry ??? That made me laugh. Anyway, I’m getting worried for the starter. I feel like something bad will happen to it soon. I hope not. Also I wanna make sourdough.

I really like this book. It’s like a big hug. When I read it, I can imagine a kitchen with flour in the air and warm bread baking in the oven and if that isn’t comforting, I don’t know what is. I also want to try this spicy soup they keep talking about. I hope there’s a recipe in the back.

I’ve had this book for 9 years and it has been staring at me from my shelf all that time. I am happy I’m finally reading it. It is great so far. I love reading about bread.

This feels like half text book, half adventure story. I’m really enjoying learning about new paradoxes and philosophies. It’s making me google things. And I love googling things. Isn’t it funny that Google is a verb? Anyway, I kind of want to savour the book but I also want to finish it. What to do?!

I really can’t trust Peter or Alice. And Grimes definitely sucks. I’m not sure I really care if they’re successful or not. I like Archimedes. At least he isn’t pretending to be anything other than a cat. I also overall am really enjoying the book as a whole. Even if the characters suck.

I’ve always said heaven is a library but apparently hell is too! This is fun. And I’m learning while reading - what could be better? I’m not so into all the maths though. Ew. But I’ll forgive it. For now.

I really love this. The way he just kept trying but never at the expense of his own interests and standards - inspiring.

So far, great. Very wholesome about his parents. It’s also a bit sad hearing him talk about not being able to achieve everything he wanted.

My favourite comedian. A bit of a slow start but it’s ramped up now. Loving it.
