I’m a big fan of this author their books keep my attention the entire time, I lost my Amazon account (it was hacked) so I didn’t have my kindle so I used Libby to listen to an audiobook and chose this randomly bc I have read their books in the past. I am pleasantly surprised and don’t even miss the other book I started reading

trigger warning your friend that is too woke is about to discuss her special interest…so far this book perfectly encapsulates the struggles women faced being unmarried and pregnant in the 50’s and 60’s. I know the author is a male that hasn’t faced the battles the patriarchy has implemented in our system, but damn he is doing a great job representing it. i hope he keeps the theme going for the rest of it!

so far i found out nat cassidy is a man (i usually try to read only female authors because im crazy)….to start off im amazed at his ability to grasp womanhood and the subtle cues of misogyny. the authors note at the beginning really tugged at my heart. i know your mother would be proud and im only 12% in…

so i like this book, however it is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. stephen king is writing from the perspective of black women. i mean im glad that he is like a super famous author and is bringing awareness to how black people, especially women, are treated with disrespect and thrown off to the side by society. but he is a rich white man. i hope that he worked with a black creator when writing this.
