I can’t say I’m enjoying this collection but Hell Heaven was perfect.

I’m enjoying this, but I didn’t like her perspective of Gnosticism in Approaching Artaud.

Oh I just love reading writing about writing.

…… just as I expected. I don’t care. I really have trouble with some Japanese writers. As thought provoking and novel as these stories are (Heaven & Sayaka Murata’s works) I always end up reading the characters as monologuing narrative pons. “We live in a society” fr. When something gets recommended to me as many time as Breast and Eggs, I start feeling like there’s something wrong with my understanding

I’m really enjoying it. I actually watched the handmaiden already, and was familiar with the story so the first section was less novel but enjoyable. I’m really pleased with the second section and the second point of view.

Bizarre. I watched this movie and it quickly became one of my favorites. There’s so many intricate details. And the book was so similar but with even more insight, of course… until 75% of the way through. Just bizarre. Until the Hostile Takeover section. The price of anonymity is years of evidence

I was concerned that I couldn’t care about the history or communist scare. I’m still concerned. There’s also split perspective/ flash backs that I don’t necessarily love. It’s not doing it for me. The fruitiness is cute so far.

I think I need to read this slower. I’m growing tired of all the different narratives and I’m only on 4 out of 12….. I’m a little in different. “Dominique” was the most engaging chapter for me so far.

Whew! She’s a REAL weirdo! Eileen disgusts me for sure and now I’m looking sideways at every maladjusted mousy girl I’ve ever met. She’s as gross as the main character from Milk Fed. I really don’t know how I feel. But I enjoy how desperate and obsessed she is. So much desire snd distain. So much self loathing and righteousness.

Exhausting.

The racism. The repeated names. The injustice. The misery. I’m tired.

No matter how many time I start reading this I don’t like it. I really feel like I’m sitting right there with them it’s so engrossing. It’s a true gothic and a storytelling triumph. But I don’t care what happens to any of these people. There’s just so much angst, misery and righteousness.

Was heartbroken but now I’m thrilled again… the length is a bit daunting but I’m enjoying it again.

Love so far. Very endearing and pure. Such a pretty feeling to be in the mind of a young girl, in love with another girl. So much affection… I’m preparing for my heart to be crushed and thrown against the wall ….

Compelling prose… but I don’t think it needs to be this slow to accomplish its goals….🙃
