As a reference book, this is a book I will never be finished with. The outline is enticing, and a wonderful array of dicot families, which are hard to assimilate. The monocot families are easier perhaps. Anyway, a great book, distiling a vast botanical experience.

After the section on the forest of Portuguese Guinea I lost my way with this book. The description of the forests there sound amazing. Maybe this book has been slow to finish, as I want to preserve remaining parts of africa for my imagination.
