idk maybe i’m just emotionally immature but the whole book seems like they are just telling the target demographic (people who think their problems are their parent’s fault) what they want to hear- that all of their problems aren’t their fault but the fault of their emotionally immature parents.

this book was recommended to me by Professor Bruno Olshausen at the Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience when I met him at a talk for ntab. so far what stands out to me in this book is that this was written in 1989 but penrose is impressive in his predictions and his challenges against a conscious electronic algorithm are surprisingly astute and hold 37 years later in the so called “age of ai”
