It’s so interesting how this is written in a retrospective POV. I’m actively reading what their present is while also the real truth is being unveiled. Like this line “ there were countless arguments, which turned out to be in vain, because the fact was we never did find any towns.” Like oh shit. WHERE ARE U GUYS!? And clearly this girl made it out and to somewhere where she could write….

“ When I was a young writer of 30…”
This first line stopped me dead in my tracks. I’m so caught up in feeling like I need to grasp my youth and 20s and run with it in every direction. While at the same time feeling inadequate to accomplish anything because I can’t accomplish everything I want to. To hear that to her she was still a budding writer in her 30s gives me pause that I still have time to grow

Now THIS is how you do a proper slow burn!! It’s not miscommunication but timing, trust, the real buildings of something. I LOVR IT
