decided to try the audiobook for a few chapters... the voice made me laugh & i couldn't take it seriously

this was the only book by gay hockey lady my library had in stock while im waiting to pick up the heated rivalry series. yes it’s that serious

the appendices are a mixed bag so far, i find the historic ones hard to follow bc its just 500 names of people we don’t know but looooved aragorn & arwen’s little segment

finally finished the story… the rest is appendices 😭

the final chapters were mostly left out of the movies but i actually liked them a lot, it felt much more wrapped up & satisfying. he really had me at the anti-cop story then he lost me with what seems like a loosely veiled communism allegory ? ik he said he doesn’t do allegory but like.. come on

them basically doing their journey but in reverse has me like *leonardo dicaprio pointing at the tv meme*

with the two towers, i much preferred the first book to the second, and now with return of the king i anticipate the opposite. HOW THE HELL IS TOLKIEN LEAVING US ON THE CLIFFHANGER OF FRODOS LIFE BEING IN DANGER AND MAKING US READ A WHOLE BUNCH OF WAR NONSENSE BEFORE GETTING TO IF HE LIVES? im only one chapter into the second book, but its been the most exciting chapter of rotk so far so lets see..

idk if its just me but i got into it again. probs cause it was a break between the fighting lmao

i was gonna say the movies make the battles more gaggy than the books but i think i’d feel that way in every case.. fights are way more fun to watch than read like is it just me?
