proust is a literary adventure. breath hitching constantly. each sentence is a world. wow.

wow so grateful this was assigned for class bc i have been wanting to at least start combray for so long. virginia woolf is right when she says proust is the greatest literary adventure i could spend hours reading and yet each line is so packed with craft i have to take it in slow small doses to truly appreciate 🙌

beautiful, slow and meditative so far. love the free indirect style

completely possessed by this …. i am such a sucker for flowing grandiose prose AND detailed realism AND illicit romance

just finished book one. wow i was sobbing throughout. i wish i saw myself in her but unfortunately i see my flaws in her
mother. makes me ashamed of how much i used to value conformity but i guess comphet has a long unlearning process.

Oh i love edmund white. i thought i was going to hate Yvette but that is my queen 👸🏼 Sometbjng i love abt white that shines through here is his genuine Love for and fascination with women. in one of my classes we were reading an interview of his and i had to read the party where he said all women should be lesbians in a logical world because women are so sensual and lovely. Shines thru here LOL

HOW could i forget to put this. i’ve been drinking this book like water. every other page im in tears because of how beautifully she crafts each phrase. maybe im dramatic. but i love woolf. and jacob is such a compelling protagonist Ugh makes me wish i was a man
