Cary is starting Endymion (Hyperion, #3)

The characters in this, most especially Raul Endymion (one of two POV characters), are nowhere near as interesting as those in the first two books. Raul in particular is just terrible. Dumb, tedious, boring with nothing to counterbalance it. And his POV parts are first person, so it's doubly bad. The story is fine. The other characters do have their moments, both otherwise, are pretty flat.

Cary is 35% done with Hamlet's Mill: An Essay Investigating the Origins of Human Knowledge and Its Transmission Through Myth

The version I was listening to was narrated by Graham Dunlop, and it was not a good narration. Dunlop mispronounces so many names and terms it's occasionally hard to know what he's talking about. There are awkward pauses before some foreign names and terms, indicating he couldn't be bothered to practice a few times before recording.

BUT! The newer narration available by Madison Niederhauser while is much better.
