I cannot understand any major criticism of Arabella. These first two books have several example of her coming through for Emma when it really matters (covering for her not having a chaperone, helping with arrangements for the conclave of the Janes, delivered the trunk of her parents hidden belongings..)

Ah, yes. The one book when I thought Aunt Eugenia would be one of my favorite characters. She seems a little annoying but also eccentric and funny. Later in the series I start to feel she is just a terrible guardian.
