So fun!!
I am loving her ironic tone and use of different views/literary works on Marxism throughout the centuries

Elisa is 50% done with You Must Change Your Life: The Story of Rainer Maria Rilke and Auguste Rodin
The author paints a beautiful yet honest picture of the lives of two exceptional artists and their impacts on each others art, I am getting so much out of this novel

Ja das war’s ich gebe auf ich bleibe für immer allein
Was würde ich dafür geben Clara zu sein 😞

Ohh this met me at the perfect time..
It reads just like a diary, very personal and all about the literary life and the great confusion, loneliness and boredom it can bring. I loved reading about Paris and Switzerland through Hemmingways lense so far.

I definitely understand why people love his writing. I absolutely despised The Old Man and the Sea but this is worlds better!

Ohh this is so painful yet sooo beautiful to read..
I listened to the interviews of him on the BBC and on Oprah’s Book Club & I love how he talks about his work and how it is able to find appreciation and recognition in so many different target audiences just because he always lets his characters be instead of trying to make them go through some sort of revolutionary change.

Elisa is on page 80 of 535 of Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty
I cannot read more than 10 pages of this in one sitting because I just keep getting nauseated with all the disgust I feel
But that shows how well researched and executed this is, and so so detailed too.
It gives all the background one needs to understand how the Sacklets became what they are & how they managed to infest the whole globe with their pills (more than just OxyContin which I also didn’t know!)

Not even sixty pages and I am already beyond words, nothing but love love love for Mr Voung. Again I am obsessed and again my expectations were exceeded

(I rushed through my English final exam today and handed it in 1.5 full HOURS earlier because I couldn’t wait to pick up this book 😭)
