wow this is such a fascinating way to learn about how jerusalem is divided. each religion in their own sector (?) with their own laws. you don’t hear much about how things work and what it looks like until you read about it yourself. i’m quite interested to see how the rest of the book will be.

volume 1 thoughts
- difficult to read and understand but a few google searches help ya understand

- time jumps a little bit without a warning but its easy to know where we are at

- narration is still a bit tricky

- nice to have background info on some of the main characters to understand why they turned out to be who they are now

on to volume 2

this is not an easy read - may have underestimated myself

first time reading gothic literature and im kinda into it??
