"Not my favourite nickname," Magnus said, gently wiggling his fingers in Barnabas's direction. "I prefer 'Our Lord and Master' or maybe 'Unambiguously the Hottest."

"We should get going, though. Morning is probably  in just a few hours. And if we don't have Energy runes, we'll have to get our energy the old - fashioned way."
Mark looked puzzled. "Drugs?"
"Chocolate," Emma said. "I brought chocolate. Mark, where do you even cone up with these things?"

"There is truth in stories," said Arthur.  "There is truth in one of your paintings, boy, or in a sunset or a couplet from Homer. fiction is truth, even if it is not fact. If you believe only in facts and forget stories, your brain will live, but your heart will die. "

She supposed faeries had never adopted the human ideas of giving each other space and having time to get over relationships.
And maybe they were stupid ideas. Maybe love was love and you should take it when you found it.

It could take forever to learn yourself.

"This could end very badly, Elain."
She brushed her thumb over the iron-and-diamond engagement ring. "It's already ended badly. Now it's just a matter of deciding how we meet the consequences."

"To think you could have been dreaming the cure for cancer," Blue said.
"Look, Sargent," Ronan retorted. "I was gonna dream you some eye cream last night since clearly modern medicine's doing jack shit for you, but I nearly had my ass handed to me by a death snake from the fourth circle of dream hell, so you're welcome."
Blue looked appropriately touched. "Ah, thanks, man."

"It's not always running away," Jimi said, her voice deep and rumbling through her chest to Blue's ear. "To leave."

"For what?"
"Emptying another student's backpack over his car. I don't really want to talk about it."
"I do," Ronan said.
"Well, I don't. I'm not proud of it."
Ronan patted her leg. "I'll be proud for you."

As he studied the fabric, Chainsaw waddled blandly between his legs, making a low growling noise. He never understood why she chose to walk and hope so often. If he had wings, all he'd ever do was fly.

"Do not mistake my silence for lack of feeling. I have a good reason to keep my thoughts to myself."

Rolfe looked over his broad shoulder at Dorian. "Rumor has it she was your Champion this fall.  Do you wish to deal with this?"
Dorian said smoothly, "You will find, Rolfe, that one does not deal with Celaena Sardothien. One survives her. "

'He wished Chaol were with him. Wished for time to just...stop so he might sort out all these fractured pieces of himself, put them into some kind of order, if not back together entirely.'

"It's just because you haven't practised enough," Noah said generously, but he was gripping the door handle in a way that seemed redundant for the already dead.

"You brilliant bastard!" Gansey said. "You've done it. What did you do?"
"Got tired of sweating is what I did. Let's look under this damn lake and get back into air-conditioning. Oh, don't even, Parrish."
Adam looked extremely unimpressed with Ronan's lack of heat tolerance. "I didn't say anything."
"Whatever, man," Ronan replied. "I know that face. You were born in hell, you're used to it."

"Oh yes, you are blue," Malory agreed. "How perceptive you are. What was the name? Jane? This is the lady I spoke to on the phone all those months ago, right? How small she is. Are you done growing?"

I think I may have had too many expectations for this book...

"I-I'm running away from..." She sighed. "Oh, I don't know anymore. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and finding that nothing at all makes sense."

'We do not look back, Chaol. It helps no one and nothing to look back. We can only go on.'
