Essay 15, “Notes from Paradise”
Hawaii. While I don’t despise it like California and New York, I find it suspect. Joan is helping change my mind.

Essay 16, “Rock of Ages”
Fell asleep while reading this one. I’m sure it’s interesting tho

Killing off all your main characters halfway through is quite the move

This is exactly what I’ve been wanting from a fantasy book

So. Many. Characters.

There are so many magnificent passages in this. For example:

“He kisses—how do I explain it? Like someone in love. Like he has nothing to lose. Like someone who has just learned a foreign language and can only use the present tense and only the second person. Only now, only you.”

This copy fits in my pocket, which makes me infinitely happy

I was not expecting so many fiction pieces in this one

I feel properly cranky. In a good way.
