I’m enjoying but it should have been reading instead of listening bc it’s easy to get lost.

Every time I pick this book back up, I’m reminded of how beautifully gut wrenching it is and I’m sucked right back in. I’m actually glad to be reading it at my age now, because I don’t think my younger self would love it as much as I do now.

It’s so refreshing to have a highly intelligent lead character.

Definitely given Roman Harry Potter

Orphan Roman boy works in a jail with magic willpower sucking rocks and has a trans woman offering motherly advice. This is going to be a fun one. 😉

As the book progressed I was actually struggling to believe any of the suspects… they just didn’t seem to have enough motive as much as I disliked them. But mannnn the reveal!! Yes!! Haven’t seen this kind of twist before.

This book makes my heart sing. Delia is so clearly a lover of words and wise in folly of the heart. She makes me want to stop in the middle of the day so I can keep reading.

Anyone else assume pretty much every character is hot, but then when they do something bad/suspicious you make them ugly in your head?? This book got me recasting a lot. 😂

Courtney is not a reliable narrator. We can’t trust her suspicions at all bc her assumption that the front desk woman didn’t actually call the police, despite the police later showing. Who else would have called then? I don’t think her husband did it. She’s just paranoid.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a good thriller. Love the double voices for the audio. But man COURTNEY GOT ME SUSPICIOUS OF EVERYONE. WHERE ARE THE TEENS??? WHERE HER HUSBAND??

Started reading this book while dog sitting for a friend. Saw it on her shelf and picked it up out of curiosity. Only got a few chapters in, and finally picked up a copy it up a few months later, holidays happened, now I’ve picked up back up with intention!

Maybe I’m dumb. Maybe there is a twist in the end that I’m forgetting. But still, SNOOZE. CONFUSED. UNAMUSED.

Girllll, reading this book again has confirmed that I am just as confused with my fully formed adult brain as I when I was 15 years old.

This book has held up a really big mirror, especially when timed with seeing my long distance boyfriend. Really thankful to be going through it with a friend and having weekly discussions. Highly recommend.

Rereading! With the buzz of the new movie, it occurred to me that I remember NOTHING from reading it in high school. So far, very brooding. Wasn’t clicking that the narrator was a man and not Katherine until like chapter 3 when we actually meet Katherine, so I was so shocked by how “gay” it was for a second. 😂

Finally seeing a major thing that wasn’t in the movie!! The movie does a great job in sharing the books largest theme of mistaken identity and truly knowing someone’s heart. However, there are more complexities that I now see the movie would have a harder time breaking down because it does take some repeat explanations. But ahh it gives so much more depth—I’m squealing like a school girl!

There were so many beautiful mysteries in the movie that I am now pleased to understand after almost 15 years of wondering. I’m sort of saddened to already be nearly half-way through… but there’s at least still some mysteries I can wait for.

What a dream it is.

As a long time Studio Ghibli fan, I have always wanted to start this book. So far it is just as delightful, and I’m enjoying knowing even more details of the characters. It also just makes me so happy with the director for his inclusion of the small details like her lunch of bread and cheese on the mountain side. A perfect listen while I edit. 😊🤍
