I was shocked that this book has a 4.9 rating with thousands of reviews, so my expectations were high. Holy fuck, there are so many characters and plot lines at play now. That’s not a bad thing, but every 10 pages I’m trying to remember who someone is. Not ideal, but also expected for the 6th book in a war saga. Half the time I don’t know how I feel about anyone—or who I’m even supposed to be rooting for.

I love the way the characters think - it captures and drives home the reality of how young they are. They’re in such an inhumane and devastating situation still thinking about crushes and “popular” kids. It’s brilliantly brutal.
