Finished Part 3. Definitely an interesting hypothesis. Still not sure if Heiser thinks the nephilim were real though. So maybe I have that belief over him.

I can’t say I’m crazy about Heiser’s hermeneutic, but he was very based at the end of this section for his jabs at determinism.

That was quite the book. St. Irenaeus has exhaustively demonstrated that the Old and New Testaments were both given by God the Father to reveal His Son Jesus to us. Now onto the last book!

Finished Book III. With the direct refutation from the previous book, St. Irenaeus goes into a complete explanation of why Jesus Christ must have incarnated physically, and how what the Church teaches must be the original teaching of the Apostles rather than the fictions of the various gnostics. We also get a surprise takedown of the Montanists in the middle here.

Finished Book 2. St. Irenaeus turned up the heat by exposing how foolish the gnostic system of interpreting scriptures by numbers and symbols is as proof-text of their blasphemous cosmology.

Finished book 1 and now into book 2. These gnostic myths are simply ridiculous, and St. Irenaeus is about to drop absolute fire about how they are false.

“On the woman replying, ‘I have never prophesied, nor do I know how to prophesy;’ then engaging, for a second time, in certain invocations, so as to astound his deluded victim, he [Marcus] says to her, ‘Open thy mouth, speak whatsoever occurs to thee, and thou shalt prophesy.’

These gnostic myths are absolutely wild.
