Katie is insufferably ignorant and entitled. If they grew up as close as the story let’s on, even if Max is confused about his feelings and sexuality, she SHOULD know that not only is he NOT into the idea of mating her but that he is NOT straight too. Best friends know a person better than they know themselves. Katie is the true antagonist here.
