The characters are all a bit strange. Not just Hiraya, but all of them. They act almost like theatre actors. Including exposition, changing topics like they're actively trying to move the plot along, and blatantly ignoring social cues?

Is no one else wondering or even concerned with whether Professor Amon is dead?! That man has a loving wife and children! We left him at a gun fight days ago and just ASSUME he's fine?
Anyways, I actively gasped and tensed when Etta was reaching for the balcony edge and nearly lost her raft.
Also I don't remember how old Arthur Griffon is meant to be. He's almost as immature as Etta..

I'm trying to think more critically of Kay's character. Who is he really? What are his motivations and personality other than 'flirt'? Is he really his own person or a sexy plot device? Cause some of his choices seem purely for plot development unless I can read into them.
