once again this book is due in 2 days and I’m trying to engulf it - I could never write a book in this format but I love love love how it develops character and reveals plot! Sybil’s singlehandedly keeping the USPS in business

we really like these books (more than we thought) - the audiobook is so much of the experience

so far, I like it better than Red Rising

I read this a long time ago and now only remember vibes so I keep getting “good feelings” or “bad feelings” (let’s be real, mostly bad feelings HAH) about characters

I would very much like to like this book. At the same time, it might be doomed solely because 15 year old me read the abstract for this book and dreamed up the plot, and I think sadly the plot I dreamed up is probably not the plot Pierce Brown dreamed up. We’ll see if his can top mine.

this book is such an odd conglomeration of Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Ender’s Game, Dune, and The Thief. currently I like all of those books more than this one but I’m also committed so I will be reading Golden Son

name dropping Ender Wiggin as a great general of the world was a bold move

Paul and I used to watch movies or shows; in this current season we catch chapters here and there while rocking a baby to sleep! we have gotten through this one pretty fast & it’s so funny (& every now & then surprisingly moving)

as someone who has been writing a science fiction uprising story since 2015, I know keenly (KEENLY!) that the hardest part is getting the main character to realize they are a main character and actually they should rebel & the odds aren’t stacked against them SO terribly. unfortunately Pierce Brown is also having this problem with Darrow currently. hopefully he gets with the program soon

someone get Nathan a hard boiled egg

this book is like the reading version of This is Us, which is one of my favorite shows, but if This is Us was even more depressing than it is. and I love it.
