it took nearly 7 hours of the audiobook to grab me but i think it finally has... so yay? I wish certain reveals were more staggered.

Like... it would have been cool if they had revealed that tori and luis had found the atargatis's ship engine on the sonar earlier in the book. I would have had something more tangible and current to propel me forward.

thought i was done for now but good goddddd bianca is grating on me. She wasn't so bad when I was reading at 1 AM last night. but the girl is so fucking dense. "I don't know why you're helping me." she's just reallyyyyy getting on my nerves. romantasy authors write a female main character who isn't god awful annoying to read please.

bianca is kind of exhausting, and the book sure does do a lot of telling. the witches literally approach her and are like "btw we know you have a condition. you're poisoning yourself. but your husband is smart so he'll help you figure it out." like girllllllllll the expository dialogue is a lot.

i feel like the author and the character are a bit mismatched here LOL. almost every chapter ends with some variation of "oh, he'd never like me, the circumstances are too complicated, etc. etc."

but when the characters are actually interacting, there are very little obstacles between them. the misconceptions about the marriage are cleared up very quickly, they both seem into the other person.

i don't even have catholic religious trauma, strictly exmormon, and this shit is ROUGH

i mean.... this was always gonna happen when abby told gretchen's parents but i still want to throw something. they're so awful this is legitimately difficult to get through

interesting premise, but so far the dialogue is a bit jarring and cliche.

also the names are nottttt giving fairytale or fantasy.....

(of all the names... derek.............)

its been a wild ride so far. this has just been such a fun book to read. absolutely captivating. im curious to see how things wrap up, and if they'll wrap up in s satisfying way.

i dont... think Josie will kill alix or the kids. but... Nathan? i wouldn't put it past her. and she 100% killed brooke, i think.
