I’m enjoying this book so far I feel like I’m just waiting for a twist or something to take it over the edge. The world building is great, the main character is easy to root for. I feel like I’m missing a little suspense. I am giving grace though because this is an MG book. May give it to my younger family members to see if they get the same vibe.

Also is there a source or explanation for how Amari was born a magician or was it just miraculous? I think I’d prefer a real reason. I thought we’d find out after the meeting with Horus
