I dunno... I'm skeptical about this one, but it was free a while back, and the premise strikes me as interesting. Already in the very first chapter the expected bias is as subtle as a tuba, but we'll see...

Reminds me a bit of Philip K. Dick, had he decided to write horror instead of sci-fi.

It's somewhat difficult to slog through the punctuation-free dialogue. Finally getting hints that there's something more than the surface story. A little late for my taste.

Still love the writing style, but I'm disappointed in the direction of the actual storyline. Still a fair book; just not what I was expecting.

I've barely started and I'm in love with Hirsch's writing style. Vivid descriptions, effective metaphors, phrases that draw me in and make me experience the book, not just read it. So far, I'm shocked at the low rating here.

I've been reading too many books about death, dying, desperate survival, and killing. Thought I could use something lighter. This is lighter, right? Right?? Oh. Well, survival with a smile will have to do.

Good book overall. I'm glad I read it. If you can get through the narrator's voice, it's definitely a worthy read.

OK, after struggling through the first third, things have gotten much better, and the book is sailing right now.

Just need some light fare to balance the heavier books in my reader.

Really hopes this gets better. The premise intrigues me, but the five-year-old narrator's "voice" is really grating. ("I ams getting tireded of Voice.")

OK, I'll be needing the sequel back from Jose pretty soon. I think this just might tide me over until Mockingjay is released.

It started a bit slow for me, but now that I'm into the book, it's really hard to put down!

It faltered a while back, with some unrealistic love-conquers-all, but got back on track. Satisfying conclusion, if not the ending I wanted.

I'm hooked! What started out as a fairly mundane reversal of race relations has turned to a question of integrity in the face of prejudice.
