It was almost there for me, cute back and forth grumpy banter. Then he pouted. Wtf. So she feels bad, boom. Friends. Then to fake dating like 3 pages. Huh. && why I HATE the fake dating trope. It just leads to I love her, he loves me / she is just pretending so I wont do anything, he is just pretending so I wont do anything. Blabla confusing and no communication. This better be worth it.

Also, "I'm not superstitious" proceeds to say she has been randomly dreams for 13 years of a man, saying it always bring good luck. && that she doesn't walk under laters and she broke a mirror and believes she has had bad luck for 2 years and has another 5 to go. Why didn't the writer just change that one sentence too " I'm pretty superstitious" wouldn't have pissed me off in the 1st 4 pages.

I really like the cozy fall, September, leaves changing, mountain vibes. I like the best friend doing "love spell" and the sister predicting it. .. However I'm not a fan of him being such a dick and not in the fun grumpy banter kinda way but down right dick.. hope Lyra can write one hell of a good reason to make them be in love. Or I'll just end up disliking his character the whole book.

Just started, trying to give benefit of the doubt.. but an FBI agent who's husband doesn't like guns.. so she doesn't keep it on her. And when a bad guy comes she does nothing but let him get shot. Your training didn't kick in, no talking him down, no putting yourself in front of your husband...

Him: genuinely likes her, only an ass when she is acting like a petulant child. Is doing so much for her and her family.

Him: when she is upset asks if she wants to talk about it.
Her: gets mad, starts fight.. proceeds to say why don't you try to get to know me.

EVERYTIME that man has tried to talk, she has started a fight and storms out.

I'm finding it hard not to dnf. There are times of pure giddy laughter. But I'm sorry Lotti is insufferable. He asks if she wants to talk after being upset. And she literally says this isn't working out because you love to piss me off. Can not handle herself. She acts like a 5 year old constantly making a fool of herself and then realizes she's being an ass but then instead of learning from it, does it over & over.
