I have always wondered why all the tai chi forms don't sync up with the bagua, wu xing and ultimately the I Ching. Tai Chi According to the I Ching by Stuart Alve Olson tackles that dilemma. As per usual for Olson, he breaks everything down and backs it up with the ancient texts to support his reasoning. I have been searching for a truly symmetrical form for years and here it is. Very exciting!

Read two chapters and already this is a classic. For sure, the self gene, gun germs and steel, origins of political order, the blank slate, the status syndrome and catching fire are the foundation for my world view.

Fukuyama make sense of this crazy species's journey on this planet from our early hominid ancestors to humans. Amazing. It was one of those books that makes you feel like you are walking through time with a tour guide. My eyes were opened.

Cotton ties together the forced expropriation of Native American land, the currency to purchase slaves, the reason why the South needed so many slaves, war capitalism and industrial capitalism to how America became who it is today! FASCINATING!

Pollan can really weave long pieces of history, with popular trends, and obsessions into a cogent and compelling sound bite! One of the main questions in this book is can something that acutely aware of itself be AUTHENTIC? He asks quite a lot of important questions in this book. Even though I read some of the books he uses as a foundation for his endeavor the journey doesn't get old or boring.

I am impressed with her prose and how she weaves multiple traditions togethers and brings the chakra system into a coherent metaphor and doable process. The author has really achieved something here! I am glad I happened upon it.
