How happy I am that Lenu is finally leaving Naples for university. I was rooting for her all this time.
All the things she went through were worth it. She will be able to make something for herself, by herself. I’m very excited to read about the rest of the book.

Nino who is very mad at his father for adulterous behavior, does the same with Lina. Lina who does things with Nino while thinking Lenu has feelings for him. Lenu should’ve been the one telling Lina about the feelings tho. What a weird friendship they have

This friendship of Lina and Lenu is a toxic friendship of convenience. Lenu wanted to distance herself from Lina but is just friend because Lina helps her with school with books and a quieter place to study. They seem like good friends sometimes, but how can you treat a friend horrible and not tell her secrets? How can you not tell your best friend that you’re in love with a boy for quite some time

Lila is jealous of Lenu after the professors party because she was unseen and people payed attention to Lenu. The disgusting this she said. Apparently joking. I would’ve questioned my friendship with her if I was Lenu.

How crazy it was that it was very normal for women to get beat up severely by their husbands back in the day.
How crazy is it that it was normalized as making your woman obey instead of a cause of outrage.
Still happens to some women. Very heartbreaking to know that someone you love can do this.

Rino is such an angry man. Wanting to become rich so badly. So greedy for showing off the Solaras. How he behaved around New Year’s Eve and now. How he behaves is very ugly. He calls a young lady vulgar things, when his friend comes over to address him with insulting phrases, Rino punches the guy. It’s ok for him to insult people but not okay for others to insult him. The violence because how small he feels

There is no way this book is a stand alone. What do you mean there is only 50 pages left while there are things that don’t add up or can be fixed in just 50 pages in my opinion. I’m very curious about the ending

Reading and listening to this book at the same time. You can hear her struggle sometimes when she has to relive what happened. She got emotional rereading the moments before her mother died. It’s truly heartbreaking to feel her pain like that. She has so much love for her mother 🩷🌸
