Getting there, slowly but surely. Not quite invested in the characters, and distracted by many elements of style, but the premise is rather strong.

Interesting read so far. A little distracting with some aspects of the style and some questionable sections, but those should get better hopefully.

Still lots of ups and downs. Not By a Nose was good, Repulse at Hastings, Martin Luther, Napoleon's Invasion, France Turns the Other Cheek, etc. Weak: Theodore Roosevelt, Greta War Torpeodoed, No Finland Station, Enigma Uncracked, Chinese Discovery of New World. Overall not too bad of a book, just dry and not super-engrossing.

Mostly interesting, minus a few sections that just drag. Historically stimulating, but hard to read all at once.

Started to pick up a little in the middle when he is getting questioned, but has dwindled again into dullness as he talks to Sonia and katerina Ivanovna.

Everyone is talking around him, droning on and on about dull things. Dostoevsky may be good, but he is also long-winded.

Page 80: reminds me of Poe's Telltale Heart with how crazy he is starting to act.

Well, there went the hopes of a slow-down. The chapter titled "The Last Battle" is halfover - after nearly 100+ pages (it ends on 807). Still now rest in the action, but at least Mat features more prominently. But seriously, GIVE US A CHANCE TO TAKE A BREATH AND SOAK IT IN! So many people have died or are dying - many just introduced - that I have given up hope of keeping that straight. But just 200ish pages more.

Exhausting read - and not just because I read straight through. It's because there is so much - dare I say "too much" - going on right now. I think the constant action may be too much, even for a climatic book. The only downtime are really the Mat chapters - who is my favorite character to begin with. But that is so far; let's see how I feel about it tomorrow.
