The writing is very Vonnegut-esque, I love it so far

This book is phenomenal, it is something I would recommend everyone to read. It only scratches the surface, but the book contains so many references to other great books that go more in depth on each subject. The book shows the sad state of most of modern medicine and how money and politics have held it back so much. It is good to know there are doctors like Ken that we can use as an example to learn from. 5/5

Panos does a really great job at explaining complex topics in simple terms. He makes a huge effort to break down algorithms and does not assume too much of the reader, which is great. I am familiar with a lot of these algorithms and concepts already, nevertheless I still think the book is very accessible even if you have no prior experience.

Again, lots of great observations but the conclusions she draws are not very convincing. She seems set on deconstructing every aspect of masculinity that exists currently leaving no room for conversation. I’m really disappointed with chapter 3. Also she suggests that books, specifically Harry Potter, only get wide appeal if they “reinscribe patriarchy”, I am not convinced by this argument.

Hooks makes some very insightful observations, however I believe she falls short when she attempts to diagnose the root cause of many of these observations. I do think she is on the right track the the book’s message, but she seems to be very quick to blame X or Y for issues without giving much explanation as to why.
