a graphic novel is such a breath of fresh air after that dense a$$ Borgias book

had I known the Lannisters were based on the Borgias, I would have read this a literal decade ago (but also Jamie and Cersei being based on a real life pair of incestuous siblings is… something)

I just can’t believe Catholic school glosses over this entire chunk of history. There literally were openly gay popes, de facto married popes, popes with multiple mistresses (who acknowledged all of the children they produced with said mistresses), popes who married their children into foreign royalty for personal gain, popes committing badly-obscured murder of their political enemies… Ora et Labora I guess

I am and will always be a Tudors girl first and foremost but holy f*ck are the Borgias giving them a run for their money

this book is about Martian colonists taking a drug and group-hallucinating into the Barbie Dream House and it was written in 1964 and that pairing of facts is absolutely insane to me

With most first-person historical fiction books my reaction is “Wow, what an interesting guess at what this person might have been like.” But in this case, if Thomas Cromwell came back from the dead and was different IN ANY WAY from how he’s portrayed in the Wolf Hall series, I’d literally be like, “Sorry you’re actually wrong, read this book and learn how to be yourself.”
