Thus far pleased with the author's account of the 18th and 19th centuries, though it is lacking in some critical details that would give casual readers a fuller picture of both "Reform Catholicism" and the revitalized ultramontane movement.

Miami is my first introduction to Didion's work. So far, quite impressed. Didion offers a perceptive analysis of a city thats always been the object of my curiosity, especially as a Hispanic and as a fan of Michael Mann's series, Miami Vice.

Particularly interesting is Didion's juxtaposition of Miami Hispanics with Miami Anglos, which seems to capture the broader tension between the Hispanosphere and Anglosphere.

This definitely needed another round with the editors….
