Chrendt is finished with The Conquest of Happiness
Prologue: Russell was a privileged Brit in the early to mid 1900s who was a very influential philosopher and logician. He put out multiple books a year for ages and did both technical scientific. Philosophizing as well as public political moralizing. His book has mic value but like Kingsworth’s Against the Machine, it’s not without its gristly bits that might give the reader a poor impression

Extremely difficult so far. So much jargon I’m missing half the words and most of the real content. Some king was a terrible fella and that’s about as much as I could gather from the preface.

Loving this book.
It has a great way of telling the story in chronological order while also including great images and descriptions.

It’s just precise enough while staying highly legible and interesting.

Quite enjoying it.
The way it deals with trauma, relationships, and the way perspectives change love is neat and the general vibe of the book is an interesting venture away from what I’m used to.

Fantastic perspective and writing to show some ways that we are programmed to crave hell and reject heaven

Very interesting and wholesome. A Korea-raised westerner and her Korean husband move to NK and do humanitarian work first in the rural city of Rasœn and then in Pyœngyang. Joy, the author, has a wholesome perspective and gives a relatively fair and interesting assessment of life and culture in the north. Very interesting from a sociological culture perspective. Valuable for understanding context of actions.

Fantastic. A collection of verses and analyses that I hope I can rival myself in my mature life.

An interesting diversion from the first.

Is Lewis serious with his antics at the beginning? No. But it’s fairly believable, and quite confusing at the least.

Very very esoteric and equally self righteous but also very interesting.

Makes you think a bit about what symbolism might do for you and how you might wish not only to approach your spiritual life but the way you live in general.
