This is one of those books where the author (and the readers apparently ) forget what it’s like to be a teenager so they take the tv version. Like yes, teens are emotional and dramatic, but some of these characters are caricaturas of teens.

AND THE CAR IS NAMED LOLITA??? This is bad…this is really really bad

Only 50 pages in and “you” are a white supremacist who says “brown-skinned b***h sickens you” k cool🤢did not plan on reading that today

I’m unsure about how I feel. The plot twist were intriguing but also a bit rushed so everything happened so fast.

I have some thoughts about this 3rd plot twist. I’m not messing with the “gotcha” vibes of this book. I feel like a horse chasing a dangling carrot but each time I catch it, it’s plastic 🙄

Story seven, this blessed house, revolves around twinkle and Sanjeev. Sanjeev almost resents twinkle due to not knowing her. They were in an arranged marriage and he feels that she is not a good Hindu, due to her whimsy nature, forcing him to despise her.

Mrs Sen’s Story revolves around a woman who refuses to assimilate. She wants nothing more than to go back to her home country and be involved in her home culture.

Sexy revolves around Miranda and her affair. The short story focuses on identity and the lack of familiarity between people who supposedly know eachother

Story 2: When Mr Pirzada came to dine revolves around an American family hosting a man who escaped the Bangladesh liberation war. The perspective is from a little girl who does not fully understand the concept.

This book is a compilation of short stories. The first short story follows couple Shoba and Shakumaur as they navigate life after grief. It shows the couple grow distance, come back together, and then come to terms with how the grief has changed them.

Chapter 3 is from the boys perspective. He is trapped at the camp, yet in a child-like state, he only thinks of things such as toys and his bike. We see the less worrisome part of the awful camps that the people were forced into.

The second chapter is from the perspective of the girl. The girl is on the train where she meets a solider, Ted, and the old Japanese man. Her train ride is spent contemplating her time at other camps and wondering about her father.
