I like the complexity of the characters in this book. The recognition of each person’s charms and also flaws in particular.

More and more I’m learning that some people, like Miriam, are simply miserable and they’d rather spend their time getting others on their level of misery while pretending they’re oblivious to their cruelty and upholding their ego as a “good”, virtuous, flawless person.
