Apparently tribes exchanged women because they produce offspring to ensure survival which may have started the reification of women. Also they preferred to exchange women over men because the men were capable of violence (due to hunting) and escape the tribe as their bond between their kids wasn’t as strong as the mother’s which led to the women staying with their new tribe, which leads to female subordination.
