A meditative, vivid account. Loving it so far.

Andrea is starting 1066 and Before All That: The Battle of Hastings, Anglo-Saxon and Norman England (Very, Very Short History of England)
This book is so good that I am disappointed by looking at the author’s other works and seeing one is a kind of jingoistic attack on immigration.

Andrea is reading The Lagoon: How Aristotle Invented Science
I'll admit I didn't finish this. There were fascinating parts and then there was the rest...pure drudgery.

Andrea is on page 100 of 400 of Crossbones (Past Imperfect Trilogy)
Reading some reviews to get a sense of how others reacted it's funny that so many who review the book don't even get the characters and their relationships straight in the review. I think this points to a major problem with the book.

Andrea is on page 300 of 3360 of The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (Allen Lane History, 3 Volume Set)
Don't hold your breathe. I'm expecting this to take a couple of years to get through. And this is not the actual edition I'm using. I'm reading my dad's college edition, two volume hardcover Modern Library edition. It doesn't have a publication date but he bought it in 1936,so it's an old one.

Andrea is reading Panama Fever: The Epic Story of One of the Greatest Human Achievements of All Time-the Building of the Panama Canal
This book traces the history of the Panama Canal from the first ideas of the Spanish explorers through to its completion in the same month as the beginning of WW I. It is detailed but written as an engaging narrative.
