3 months and only 34% in, switching to audio to try to power through and get my “Q” to complete my alphabet challenge!

I have five dates left to finish my calendar challenge and that is the only reason why I am not DNFing this.

And I’m back off the waitlist!

My loan just expired and I’m back on the waitlist so until I come off…

There was just a throwaway reference to a “Dr. David Ryan Atwood” and I am here for it.

I’ve literally waited something like 30 weeks for this audio to become available so let’s hope it’s worth it.

When I was in college, there was a guy I knew who I would refer to as “Tampon Bryan” because he told a story of inserting a tampon into a girlfriend and it completely freaked me out. That conversation just came screaming back to me.

This book is very much not for me but I’m too far in to DNF.

I am already a little bit obsessed with this book… I’m at work and all I’m thinking about is when I can pick it back up to see what happens next.

Did Violet use the word “onyx” this much in the first two books, or is it just being incorporated every few pages because of the book’s title?

Me, 43, taking personal offense every time a 39 year old character is referred to as “middle aged” (shut up, I’m living til 100) and at this line: “his body had started to wake him at night, he presumes it’s getting its revenge because it’s annoyed he’s keeping it alive.” HE’S THIRTY-NINE!!!

I may regret this.

Seriously though, WHY DOES SHE KEEP CALLING HIM MIKE MARTIN?

Now they’re insulting Fuller House?!? Too far, Jenny Holiday. Too far.

From the 6% point until now she has called him “Mike Martin” 40 times. I have counted. And btw that includes a 40 minute or so chapter from Mike’s POV or that number would be double. I am ready to scream.

Also I hate the trope where the girl has a nickname that everyone calls her but she happens to mention what it’s short for and then the guy only calls her by her full name.

But Joshua Jackson…

Okay, but seriously, stop continuously calling him “Mike Martin”.

Hockey? Check. Canada? Check. Abby Jominez recommendation? Check. JOSHUA JACKSON AS NARRATOR? Check check check.

Playing a game of chicken with myself to see how far into this I get before “creepy” turns to “scary” and I regret picking this one up 🤣

Oh God I’m 10% in and I already hate it and I should DNF but I want to stick it through because I normally enjoy Lynn Painter and maybe it will get better but if it doesn’t I haven’t had a 1 star yet this year and I’ll get to use a new color in my book journal. But I really hate this.

This is the only book my boyfriend has ever voluntarily read, and he told me I have to read it before I see them with him in July. I’m six minutes in and so far Fat Mike drank pee and milked a woman. Chris is lucky I love him.

People either love this book or they hate it. 21 years ago I read it for class and declared it my favorite book ever and I’ve read every book Dave Eggers has written since and honestly this might be the riskiest reread I’ve ever done but here goes (and by here goes I mean I’m 4% in and still on the acknowledgments which I completely forgot about but kind of love).

I’m 6% in and have already cried.

I’m just going to keep cataloging the horrible pronunciations and hopefully by the next one I’ll stop cringing at Houston Street

I don’t know how I’m going to be able to take this book seriously when the narrator doesn’t know how to pronounce Semper Fi.

Also if Taylor Swift were to write a book, I am 99% sure this would not be it.

I haven’t read this book in over a decade and I’ve seen the movie tons of times since I read it. Rereading is reminding me 1) just how well done the movie was and how it did the book justice and 2) why this was one of my favorite books of all time. Just sitting here sobbing this morning over Rue.

I miss Television Without Pity so much.
