The pacing of this book is kind of wacky

Well so far, I hate this.

Ok this is one of the most dramatic books I’ve ever read.

I’m already confused. The whole first 10 minutes went on about how Riley was a male-repellant, and suddenly in a random Scottish bar girl got game and a truck full of confidence to approach the hottest man she’s ever seen?! I mean, good for her. But your story is inconsistent.

Coral tee and flip flops. Call me shallow but she lost me there. Cole just dropped like 50 hotness points

Inconsistency… he’s a ghost and he “can eat but can’t taste” yet 5 minutes before that he told her her coffee was disgusting and spat it out.

Lots of things from this book are already annoying me.. like why would you go to college in New York City and then (post graduation) think you can live on a part-time job at a bookstore? 😐 this is everything that’s wrong with America. I hate how this trope is romanticized in novels.

Wait, what? Why would the author even write that.

I should add- UNIRONICALLY throwing around “bestie”

Why the hell do these 30 something’s keep saying “bestie” ?? I know we’re millennials but let’s be real here.

Wait wait wait… so he left his fiancé (and best friend?) at the alter because marrying her would cause him to lose his “familiar” magic- like as in, an animal connection?????? Wut.

I’m already annoyed. Why did the POV briefly switch from third person limited to third person omniscient? -when Bastian (ugh the names haha) remembers the “kind of girl” Emma “was”

Ok so, I don’t understand when Koen says things like, “if you were mine then…” when he’s the one that 1. told her he doesn’t want her in that way (which duh, we can tell he’s lying) and 2. he is the one beholden to the “celibacy covenant” soo yeah, why does he make any comments like that?

There hasn’t been a ton, but enough to be confusing.

Why does this author keep saying “I want to write something inside of her” wtf does that even mean

I’m going to be honest. I do not care for the way this writer writes… I haven’t been this uncomfortable since… honestly I don’t know. Noah does not feel charming to me, he feels like a stalker serial killer 😆

“Her arousal was so thick in the air between us that I could taste it on my tongue” Um excuse me, what the actual f? That’s terrible!

DNF. I just don’t love this writing and these characters 😕

I’m not understanding this math… a teacher will be going on maternity leave in June (summer?) but it’s September? Is this teacher 2 days pregnant? This math isn’t mathing.

I just have to say, this audio is awful 🥴

Honestly grateful for how hella awkward this wedding scene is- feels more authentic for a crazy situation
