I’m in the mood for a romantasy - immersive worldbuilding, high stakes fight scenes, emotionally complex characters, and romance that enhances the story instead of becoming the entire plot.

I don’t want juvenile dialogue, miscommunication, or characters that feel like copies of every other spicy booktok read

Give me a little sexual tension with dragons/fae/vampires and magic!

This is the most cliche vampire book ever. I’m pretty sure the author just a ripped off Twilight & Vampire Diaries.
It reads like a middle schooler wrote it - the amount of times the author uses ‘For long seconds..’ to mark a period of waiting between dialogue. It’s cringe and I don’t want to finish it but I hate to mark books as DNF.
& the texts between characters using o_O faces? Cringe.

The Zodiac Academy isn’t necessarily the most exciting fae series, but it’s an easy read and is entertaining enough to want to continue. I dont think the author spent enough time on the action in these books though.
The twins go through a series of challenges and in what seems like only a matter of minutes, they’ve overcome them and are continuing on their way.
More detail would’ve made this a 4 star read

"Now, my little friend, while the sun drinks the dew-while all the flowers in this old garden awake and expand, and the birds fetch their young ones' breakfast..and the early bees do their first spell of work-“

Brontë has such a vivid way of capturing the world. The imagery feels so soft and full, like I can breathe in the same air alongside Jane. Jane Eyre has a way of making the simplest moments feel sacred.

“What did you wish for?” the guide asks, assuming he wants a new gadget like any other boy his age. My son doesn’t hear the question, or pretends that he doesn’t.
However, I don’t feel like hiding my ten-year-old’e wish. Instead I’d perhaps like the whole world to know.
“He wished for Vladimir Putin to die,” I say.

Why do I keep putting myself through this? I know I don’t like Hoover’s writing style, yet here I am, reading another one…
‘The door is open, and she’s completely naked, so I freeze in the middle of getting dressed because she’s got a perfect ass.’
*cringe*
