Kinda struggling, Beau’s voice still seems predominantly female in a way and I can’t tell if it’s because I know the original so well or if I truly believe that males would have different feelings and reactions to things …. It’s too similar

Just couldn’t get into it, not the book’s problem but more likely my head wasn’t into this depressing start.

The Vegetarian, which is the first of 3 short stories, is a disturbing look at the roles in a traditional culture and what happens when an individual steps out of that role. Disturbed and nauseated but certainly thought provoking. When you look at the actions of each individual you’re struck by their selfishness and what does that say about our humanity. Off to read the next one …
