I’m getting scared now… we’re getting to that point in all of SJM’s books where she likes to just fuck you up so this feels like the calm before the storm 🫣

Finally reading this for the first time even though I’ve read the rest of the series 3 times 👀 I was never in the mood for Nesta’s story, but now I feel like I can understand what she’s going through. Excited to get to all the stuff I know about this book without context lol

The book is referencing women needing their husband’s APPROVAL 🤢 to get birth control + open their own bank account, then to the suffragette movement, stating “Had we waited for men to give us the vote, it never would have happened. We had to demand it for ourselves and do the work to see it through.” So many points in this book are making me realize how little we’ve actually progressed since then…
