Once again, Harpman masterfully attacks loneliness and isolation. But this time she comes at it from angle of adolescence and one's friends /peers. I was incredibly interested by her analysis of collective cruelty, being outcasted over a small event turned large, and the inevitable hardship that comes from simply being 15 years old. I'm very fond of this story- maybe more than the first? I'll have to process

Very reminiscent of Harpman's 'I Who Have Never Known Men'. She digs into the same ideas of group isolation, mystery, desolation, and loneliness. I love what she has to say in this one about following blind instruction and the suffering that comes from it, specially in the context of war and political power.

Will, we're really dragging our feet with this one. This is getting repetitive, my friend. When was the last time you called your editor?
