Better if the Romance aspect was introduced around here. Ya know. After the time jump. Where it makes sense.

Spoiler - Oh nooooo ****** is falling in love with ******* for....reasons....I guess...but oh no! ******* is betrothed to *************

This storyline popped up outta nowhere with no lead up and the intro to it was super poorly done. Dumb.

My interest is finally starting to get piqued but I'm still not convinced this is going to live up to the story telling in the game series

Book is dragging so far. I'm having a hard time investing in characters that I was invested in when I played DAO.

Pacing is so bad! It's so slow and generic until the "big reveal" on page 155 and then it feels as if the author rushed to finish the last third of the book. Reveal is also trash with the author Hardly leaving any breadcrumbs for the reader to follow. It was as if I asked my friend what they were wearing to a party and they said, a blue dress but when I got there they went, "Ha! I'm wearing pants! Fooled you!"

Her writing hasn't gotten any better. Attempts to plant seeds and hints of ideas are very ham-fisted. Characters have little to no dimension. We have the smart, evil villain and the smart, heroic lady-scientist. There isn't much to their personalities aside from that. The only saving grace is I want to know how tbe story ends. Apparently there is a twist I haven't gotten to so I'm excited to see what's up with that.

Keegan's writing is informative but incredibly boring. I have to read this earlier in the day before my ADHD medication wears off otherwise my brain absolutly refuses to pay attention and absorb what I'm reading.

The story itself has piqued my interest but Urquhart's writing leaves much to be desired. There is a blatant ignorance of the golden rule of story craft, "Show, don't tell."
