At first, I thought I was going to dnf this because it was difficult to envision what was going on. But the further I read, the more I realize that Murderbot is me and I am Murderbot, so now I have to keep reading for the sake of my kin.

I am so glad I found a copy of this at a used bookshop. I am calling it now--this is gonna be a five-star read that I'll be returning to again and again for years to come.

Claudia is honestly the most interesting character in this book. She is far smarter and more vindicated in her worldview than Louis. I wonder what this book would have been like if it had been told from her perspective. Absolute horror.

Louis: I don't wanna kill humans?
Lestat: Okay, let's debate this.

a few decades later...
Claudia: Who made me what I am?
Lestat: HOW FUCKING DARE YOU, YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE--

Really loving the multiple perspectives in this. The multiple audiobook narrators are doing such a great job giving unique voices to each character!

It's cursed. I'm convinced it's cursed. Why do I do this to myself? I just HAAAD to be a horror fan. Fun fucking times. If this wasn't an ILL, I might have considered burning after reading. AND I'M A LIBRARIAN.

Um...THC isn't hallucinogenic, so gummies wouldn't make one "trip balls." I think writing a novel like this requires keeping a tab open for Urban Dictionary. Then again, I could also just be trippin.

Kinda feels like the book is only just starting.

Wow, who knew that actually researching the time period before writing a novel could really help with fleshing out the story? (heavy on the sarcastic self-deprecation)

I'm having trouble keeping up with the cast of characters while listening to this in audiobook format. I'll try to read a physical copy at some point, though, because the world Turnbull has created is somewhere between Neil Gaiman-esque and Stephen Graham Jones-esque.

Nope. This isn't for me. Maybe they quit it with the traditional gender roles later in the book, but I don't have the patience at the moment. Oh well. Gonna DNF here.
