It has been pretty dry so far in the lead up to the shooting. Just now getting to the Paul Revere stuff. Definitely put my head in the game a little for celebrating our 250th.

It is decent, but depressing. It was published in Polish in 1986, near the time of the collapse of Communism there.
I like the vignettes about Wilno (Vilnius Lithuania) since I am 1/4 Lithuanian. Vilnius is now overwhelmingly Lithuanian, but in history it has at times been mostly Byelorussian, and also Polish. There was a War over this territory in 1920-1921 between Poland and Lithuania. The Russian Civil War.

The chapters are really short, and I like that.
Seems like a good style for the modern world, you digest mostly self contained morsels.
I really like the book, it covers ground in a very unique way, and highlights in a real manner, the often ugly things that went on in WW2, and after, and before.
You get Nazi's, Bolsheviks, intelligence agents, Israeli's, NYC, Berlin, Dresden, etc.

I just read the chapter on economics.
I was already familiar with most of his ideas.
Stock walks a line well, that is between fawning and critical.
Pound was arrogant, rascist, and opinionated.
He also was bold and innovative.

So far, not so good.
It is mostly a boring economics lesson.

I do love the snarky title though.
Seems Ashton got turned down in 2003 with this one, but when the crisis of 2008 happened, there was more of a market for these ideas.

I just read Maestro and thought it pretty good.

Seems Greenspan was brilliant, but will the next guy be?

Can we just put some mathematical constraints in place, and let it rip?

Davy Bennett is on page 86 of The Strange Death of Franklin Roosevelt: A History of the Roosevelt-Delano Dynasty: America's Royal Family
The first few chapters outlining the genealogy of the Roosevelt-Delano Dynasty is a stretch. Reminds me of when my wife and her sister went to the local LDS branch library and they had them related to all kinds of prophets.
