did julia explain the entire plot of this book to me before i started reading? yes, but this is supposed to be where it gets good so

I've kind of stalled here. I really enjoyed the first half of this book and I don't know if it's the length itself or the alternating chapters but I just feel done already. I especially don't care about the humans at all which is crazy but I'm obsessed with these spiders.

i'm in awe and honestly so incredibly curious about how this is going to end.

somehow i just started this book but have also been reading it forever

i've heard so many mixed reviews but i honestly love this so far. i've never read a book that is so casual. i feel like im living in her mind. and although our lives do not at all reflect one another's or overlap, i've never found a book more relatable.

while this is a really great history of early archaeological efforts, it fails to accurately discuss the ethics of the practice, at least at this point in the book. early archaeological expeditions in the 18th and 19th century were not simply cultural exchanges and knowledge acquisition, they were informal imperialism that pacified and exploited local populations

so many people hate on this book. i was expecting to be disappointed, but i actually am enjoying this so far

I appreciate the extreme importance of what being discussed but do you have to choose the most confusing and complex way to explain things.
