This one attic had two children, who were imprisoned and abused in that space, but the two events occurred almost a century apart in time. Not only did they share a horrible experience but they also shared a connection that becomes apparent to the reader later in the book. This well researched historical novel was a horror to read at times but it was also a necessary part of history that needed to be told.
